In recent years, several prominent scholars in school-based counseling have made the case for policy research as a compelling next step in advocating for the development of school- based counseling programs worldwide (Aluede, Carey, Harris, & Lee, 2017; Sink, Shi, & Mullen, 2024). The central rationale for these authors is that policy research concerning school- based counseling, particularly when situated within country, has the potential to provide policymakers with solid research findings. In turn, the findings will bolster their arguments for the development and implementation of school-based counseling policies that could benefit students and young people within their respective country, and potentially, across the world.
